After several months of besieging Tobruk, Rommel was still unable to take the port. Meanwhile, 8th Army had plans of its own. On November 18th, the British launched Operation Crusader with the intent of relieving the Tobruk garrison, and the next day saw an armored clash near the Sidi Rezegh airfield.
Objectives: Your squadron, acting as an advance guard, is to move northwest to the objective area and clear it of all enemy. Your troop forms the center of the line and will move along the road to the objective. The enemy is estimated to consist of infantry deployed in strongpoints in the village, backed by a troop of armor.
